  Thallus pale fawn, thin, subtuberculate, slightly glossy. Ascomata immersed in whitish stromata; stromata irregularly ovoid, flattened, 4–5 (–6) mm long, 2.0–3.5 mm wide; lirellae black, crowded, open, neither confluent or branched, subcircular in outline, 0.10–0.15 mm wide. Disc black, finely white-pruinose; pruina often lost due to abrasion. Proper exciple complete, thin, dark brown to black. Hymenium 120–140 µm thick. Ascospores 8 per ascus, irregularly biseriate, pale brown, 6 (–8)-locular, 24–28 (–32) × 7–8 µm.
CHEMISTRY: Stictic acid (major), ±peristictic acid (minor), ±substictic acid (minor).
     
  Rare in north-eastern Qld; also in Indonesia and the Philippines.
